And now a word from our sponsor: The Eloise Wife Disposal Company:

If ducks were meant to fly, they would have wings.

Saw this little wooden boat up on the rocks (literally) in Rainier, Oregon.

The weather forecast for today sounded iffy, but it turned out to be a nice day.
60's and overcast on the Coast with a little blue sky and sun. But just before the
above picture was taken we ran through a brief, very cold rain squall.

The Astoria Megler bridge.

Ain't love grand? :)

We got to Oysterville just in time for these people's wedding reception at the old
school. Lucky, huh? Well.... lucky would be if they had asked us to join them ...

The Oysterville church.

The oldest house in Oysterville. Built in 1863

Ain't love grand? .... :)

Chief Nahcati, 1826-1863. He never lived to see how screwed up President Obama
made his Country. Had he known, he may have thought twice about letting these White
guys in.

Oysterville was settled in 1854 by R.H. Espy and I. A. Clark. Chief Nahcati had told
Espy of tidelands covered with succulent oysters. On April 20, as they paddled north
from the head of the bay, they became engulfed by a heavy fog. Their sense of direction
vanished and they feared they would be swept out to sea. However, Nahcati had spotted
them before the fog rolled in and, by rhythmically pounding on a hollow log, directed
them to shore. Nahcati had not exaggerated. The mudflats were piled high with tiny
native oysters, there for the taking.

of Sydney Stevens, Great Grand Daughter of R.H. Espy, one of the founders of Oysterville.

It doesn't take much to make Julie or Suzy happy. Big smiles on the girls for a
surprise ride on this dorky little ferry that runs from Puget Island, Washington to
Westport, Oregon. $3 for a happy scooter and a happy goil friend? Money well spent..

A brief stop in Scappoose and then back home.
