Meet Kaitlyn, my lovely new and improved SpokesModel for today's event
These images were made with my Nikon D810 camera and my
Zeiss Planar T* 50mm F/1.4 ZF.2 manual focus Lens.

This was my first visit to the annual McCleary Bear Run Festival and
car show. Very happy that I was invited to participate. For a variety
of reasons.
First, because I do a dozen or more Portland area car shows every year
and have been doing so for decades. After a while it's a lot of the
same cars showing up at multiple local events year after year. Just
how many pictures can you take of the same aqua and white 1955 Chevy
as classic as those old cars are before it gets old? So at McCleary,
I had never seen or shot any of the cars there so it was a real treat
for me to get some fresh images.
Plus, the people in that tiny little town were sooooooo nice! Most
everyone was friendly, outgoing, eager to chat.. really, really
nice people.
The payoff for me and one of my pet peeves when shooting car shows is
all the stuff the owners plop all around their cars making photography
very difficult. At McCleary there were several times when I was trying to
get a shot and someone (usually the Missus) would zoom over and move
stuff out of the way so I could get a better image. And several owners
volunteered to close the hoods/trunks of their cars or otherwise move
something out of my field of view for a better shot. Very much appreciated!
The people of McCleary probably have no idea just how different and unique
they are compared to some of the ding dongs I regularly have to deal with
here in the big city. I will definitely be back even if it's just to catch
a meal at the Bear's Den restaurant in "downtown" McCleary.
The annual McCleary bear run festival and car show gets my Easyrider
"must do at least once before you die" recommendation. This is an event
not to be missed!
